Overview Of The Royal Navy

Overview

A joint task force, with ships from the Royal Navy and French Navy et al

The Royal Navy is centered on main operational capabilities, these are to project air power, conduct anti surface ship warfare and anti submarine warfare and to land and support amphibious operations by the Royal Marines. Also to carry and deploy the nations sole nuclear deterrent.

To project air power, the navy has 3 aircraft carriers the 'Invincible' class carrier. Capable of operating up to 20 aircraft these are the flagships of the modern day Royal Navy's power. The surface fleets of escorts are a visible sign to any potential enemy, and capable to conduct anti air warfare, anti surface warfare and anti submarine warfare these are powerful units.

A large helicopter carrier HMS Ocean and the landing platform docks HMS Fearless and HMS Intrepid provide the amphibious capability. Assisted by several landing ships ferrying troops and vehicles the Royal Navy has the best amphibious capability in Europe.

To carry and if needed to deliver the nations nuclear deterrent, is in the form of the large nuclear powered submarines, the 'Vanguard' class. Capable of patrolling silently and unseen throughout the seas for weeks and even months without contact, these are the nations ultimate guarantee.
